California State Route 55 Auto Accidents

State Route 55 also known as the 55 freeway in Orange County stretches a little over 17 miles in length. The 55 freeway travels from the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach to the 91 freeway in Anaheim. The route is a part of the California Freeway and Expressway System. The most common name for Route 55 is the Costa Mesa Freeway even though it used to be referred as the Newport Freeway.

Route 55 or the Costa Mesa Freeway has been a very important linking system for southern Orange County between the 91 freeway and Interstate 5. The 55 freeway runs through the growing cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Orange, Tustin, and Anaheim. The road was the first to incorporate carpool lanes to prevent congestion.

55 Freeway's Importance

According to a 2005 report from the Department of Transportation, about 262,000 vehicles and over 17,000 trucks move along Route 55 everyday. From 2005, the road has been growing even more, as the road travels from Riverside to the Ocean meeting Pacific Coast Highway. For this reason, there is still a lot of congestion despite the use of the carpool lane.

A separate study by the California Department of Transportation notes the reasons for why the traffic on Route 55. These included John Wayne Airport, Newport Center, Downtown Costa Mesa, Hoag Hospital, coastline beaches, University of California, Irvine, Mall of Orange, Western Medical Center, and Santa Ana Civic Center.

55 Freeway Traffic Problems

The average daily traffic (ADT) on the SR-55 on 19th street in Costa Mesa is about 71,000 vehicles. Over 182,000 of these vehicles cover Triangle Square in which Harbor Boulevard, 19th street, and Newport Boulevard meet. This area along with other ones can cause severe congestion problems and a bad accident. Factors that contribute to traffic accidents on the freeway include congestion, dangerous truck drivers, distracted drivers, and debris or large items that somehow make it onto the freeway.

For the reason that the SR-55 is typically full of cars travelling at high speeds and bad congestion, a typical accident might involve a large number of vehicles, which can lead to a lot of people becoming injured. These injuries range from head injuries, spinal cord injuries, broken bone injuries, lacerations, and even burns. There is no reason for why any of these victims should be responsible for the injuries received. Therefore, the negligent party should give compensation to the victims. In order to receive compensation, a victim needs a good personal injury attorney to represent him or her.

When Should You Search for An Attorney?

The following is a guest post by BestAttorney.com

Do you know the best time to think about hiring on of the top personal injury attorneys? Before you ever need one.

It may seem redundant to consider hiring a personal injury attorney if you have not suffered an accident. However, having a clear plan in case you need a personal injury lawyer will help you make the right decisions if you are ever faced with this situation.

A California personal injury attorney is licensed to practice law in the state of California and understands our state’s particular court system regarding personal injury cases. Unlike a general attorney who handles wills, real estate closings, and criminal law, a personal injury attorney focuses his or her attention only on collecting damages for personal injury victims. No other attorney has the expert knowledge gained by years of personal injury work to focus so specifically on the aspects of your personal injury case.

When you have suffered a personal injury accident, you may think about hiring a personal injury lawyer in California, but you may be unsure about exactly what such an attorney does or why you would need one. After all, insurance companies usually try to settle accidents immediately so there should be no need to consult a personal injury attorney at all. You should be able to negotiate with the insurance company and get a fair settlement.

Of course, this only happens in an ideal world. In the real world, insurance companies and other interested parties try their hardest to make sure you, the victim, get as little compensation as possible for your injury claim. No one wants to pay more than necessary to settle a personal injury case, so these interested parties immediately begin bombarding the victim with settlement offers, and may even threaten to withhold payment if the victim does not agree with the amount. These are all tried-and-true tactics that have allowed insurance companies and defense lawyers for years to pay victims far less than the full value of their claims.

When a California personal injury lawyer, you will not have to worry about anyone taking advantage of you in this way. You will immediately have access to sound legal advice about your claim and what it is really worth. Talk to a California personal injury lawyer today and begin the process of collecting the full value of your claim, not just what the opposing side says you should have.

Receiving Help After a Serious Accident in CA

Receiving help from a personal injury accident is not as easy as you may think. Finding the right lawyer for your case is important if you want to receive a maximum settlement.

You may never have thought about your value as a person in the eyes of the law, but rest assured that other people have, and this will become obvious if you are ever involved in a serious accident in California. Personal injury accidents, by their nature, cause us to place a value on human life and the quality of that life in order to allow victims to collect damages from those who hurt them.

This idea bothers many people. After all, how can we assign a value to a human life? Are some people's lives worth more than others? What determines how valuable someone is in the eyes of the law? These are questions that CA personal injury lawyers struggle to help clients understand the answers to every day.

Being involved in a personal injury lawsuit can make you feel that others do not place a high value on your life. When insurance companies, defense lawyers, and others offer you a small amount of money to simply "go away," it can make you feel that they believe your life is not very important. For this reason, you need someone on your side who will fight for your rights and help you collect the true value of damages in your personal injury case.

Personal injury lawyers in CA are well aware that they must, at some point, put a price tag on your pain and suffering. This is very difficult to do. First, there is the problem of what makes someone’s life valuable in the eyes of the law. Because there must be some metric to measure against, the law generally regards people who are wage earners as having more potential for making money than those who are unemployed or retired. The law also regards potential future income as a viable standard against which to measure the worth of a lost life or disability. Therefore, children will be assumed in court to be future wage earners.

There are other ways that personal injury attorneys can value cases, but in order to collect large damage sums, it is necessary to show some information to justify as personal injury claim.

No matter what your circumstances, a CA personal injury lawyer will help you collect the largest settlement possible for your injury and will force the defense to recognize your value and worth as a human being. In this way, you will know that someone must acknowledge your loss, pain, and suffering.

Questions to Ask Your Personal Injury Attorney

When searching for a personal injury attorney there are a number of questions that may come to mind. Hiring the best attorney for your case is no matter to be taken lightly. You should fee comfortable with your lawyer and trust that he or she has your best interests in mind. After all, your attorney could be the difference between a good and great settlement.

When speaking with your attorney, be honest. If you don't understand something they say don't pretend you do. Let them know that you don't understand and ask more questions to clarify. Be sure to tell your attorney everything about your case. Don't leave out any details because those details could be important to your personal injury claim.

Lastly, contact a few lawyers who offer free consultations. Most personal injury lawyers will offer complimentary consultations to anyone who has been injured in an accident. Some of the best injury attorneys will also offer a no win no fee guarantee.

Prempro Side Effects

The following article is for information purposes only. It should not be used as legal advice, that can only come from an attorney. The information used for this article has been cited from a number of different sources which you can find at the bottom of this article.

Prempro attorneys represent victims who have suffered from the alleged side effects of hormone replacement therapy. These victims took a drug called Prempro, manufactured by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, and suffered various types of side effects that damaged their bodies and minds. If you think you may have been a victim of Prempro side effects, you should contact a your doctor immediately.

Prempro was released for public use in 1995 as a hormone replacement for women suffering from low estrogen. Prempro was designed to relieve debilitating menopause symptoms caused by lack of estrogen in the body, a common effect of menopause.

However, soon evidence began to appear that suggested that the risks of Prempro far outweighed the benefits. For example, studies have shown that Prempro may increase women’s risk of breast cancer and abnormal mammograms, strokes, blood clots, heart disease, and even dementia.

In 2002, a study of Prempro's side effects, which had been commissioned by the National Institute of Health was abruptly halted after claims began to appear that many of the test subjects might be at risk for severe health issues if they continued taking the drug.

Prempro is a form of combined hormone replacement therapy, or CHRT. Some experts believe that combining hormone replacement therapies may increase individual risks of the drugs, but further research will have to occur before a statement can be made on that possibility. At present, studies are ongoing to isolate the factors in Prempro that lead to such devastating side effects. Prempro lawyers are ready to work with victims who have suffered any of the side effects associated with the drug. Besides death, heart disease, and breast cancer, there are also many less serious side effects associated with Prempro use, such as sweating, nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms similar to actual menopause symptoms. It is possible in some cases that victims actually suffer the same side effects the drug was designed to alleviate.

If you have been the victim of side effects from Prempro usage, it is very important that you talk to an expert personal injury attorney immediately. You must not only determine if you have a case against the manufacturer of Prempro but also determine the best way to file that case. There are several options when you consider how to handle your Prempro lawsuit, so be sure to discuss these with your personal injury lawyer and make a determination about the best way to proceed with your Prempro case.
